Shihan Darvill-Bessent's journey

Shihan Darvill-Bessent started taking an interest in different Martial Arts forms and attended different open training courses.

In 1990, he was introduced to Goju Ryu Karate. Later in 1990, Shihan formed a group named Hatsun Jindo, which was later renamed as Dokuritsu Kai. He affiliated his group with the association that graded him to black belt. He also started going around the country training with many top-level instructors.

After a period, he changed associations and joined Butokukai GB as part of the Seijinkai Karate Association. This karate school taught a Shotokan Goju Ryu mix. After 5 years, Shihan left the Seijinkai and formed the Shinseikyu Karate Academy.
